George Swede

George Swede is the editor of Frogpond: The Journal of the Haiku Society of America and the Honorary Curator (2008-09) for the American Haiku Archives at the California State Library in Sacramento. He helped found Haiku Canada in 1977 and became an Honorary Life Member in 2007. Publishers in Canada, Great Britain and the U.S. have brought out 32 collections of his poems and six anthologies he edited, as well as a selection of his essays on the haiku form.

Catherine J.S. Lee

Catherine J.S. Lee lives, writes, teaches, and gardens on an island on the coast of Maine, USA, and enjoys capturing the ever-changing ocean in her haiku. A published short-story writer in online and print journals, she began her haiku journey in July, 2007. Her haiku have recently appeared in White Lotus, Magnapoets, The Heron's Nest, Frogpond, Chrysanthemum, and World Haiku Review. She is a member of the Haiku Society of America, Haiku Canada, and HaikuOz.

Greg Schwartz

Greg Schwartz is a copier repairman, haiku poet, and cartoonist. Some of his poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Acorn, Modern Haiku, New York Quarterly, and the 2008 Red Moon Anthology. Spec House of Poetry produced a hand-illustrated broadside of three of his haiku, titled bird ku, which is available at http://spechouseofpoetry.blogspot.com.

Richard Krawiec

Richard Krawiec has been published in all the usual places—Modern Haiku, Heron's Nest, Frogpond, Simply Haiku, bottle rockets, acorn, blithe spirit, Mainchi Daily, etc. His non-haiku poems appear in magazines like many mountains moving, sou'wester, blue moon review, 2rivers, and others. Richard has been fortunate to win fellowhsips from the NEA and the NC Arts Council.

Patricia Benedict

Patricia Benedict (BFA, MFA) is a retired professor of Drama who taught at the University of Calgary for seventeen years. She hails from Ireland, where she acted, directed and wrote for the theatre and did not begin writing haiku until the 80's. Her work has been published in several haiku journals including: RawNerVz, The Heron's Nest, Ashai Haikuist Network, Carpe Diem, and Haiku Canada Review. She and her husband live in Calgary.

Robert Moyer

Robert Moyer lives in Winston Salem, NC, where he was local host for Haiku North America 2007. He has had work published in a number of journals, such as frogpond, Modern Haiku, bottle rockets, and Sketchbook. He has been included in a number of anthologies, most recently the ten-year Acorn anthology. An article about his teaching haiku to elementary school children, "Looking for the Moment: Haiku, Theater and Play," was featured in the March 2009 HSA Newsletter.

Megan Arkenberg

Megan Arkenberg is a student in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her work has appeared in Modern English Tanka, the Heron’s Nest, Simply Haiku, Frogpond, 3LIGHTS Gallery, Acorn, and dust of summers: the Red Moon Anthology 2007. She also writes fantasy short fiction and poetry, and edits the online fantasy magazine Mirror Dance.

Nicole Pakan, is the co-editor of DailyHaiku and associate art editor for DailyHaiga. Nicole is an active member of the Edmonton poetry and art communities as a poet, painter, candlesti... er... um, printmaker, potter and photographer. By day she masquerades as the communication manager for a non-profit organization; by night she can be caught flirting with words—frequenting the Raving Poets and Stroll of Poets readings. Nicole participates annually in the Roar Spoken Word Festival, the Edmonton Poetry Festival, the Edmonton Stroll of Poets Haven Series, and the Cortex multimedia exhibit. Her recent publication credits include filling Station, Other Voices, the Stroll of Poets Anthology, and Notebook Magazine. Patrick M. Pilarski, is the co-editor of DailyHaiku and associate poetry editor for DailyHaiga. His first full collection of haiku, haibun, and tanka, Huge Blue (2009), was recently released by Leaf Press, and he is the author of one chapbook: Five Weeks (2007). Patrick’s work recently appeared in The Antigonish Review, Modern Haiku, The Heron's Nest, Frogpond, Acorn, contemporary haibun, and Take Five: Best Contemporary Tanka (Modern English Tanka Press, 2009). Michael Gravel, Past-Editor and Founder, DailyHaiku, is a writer based in Edmonton, Alberta. He's a founder and the frontman of Edmonton’s Raving Poets, and co-founder of The Roar Spoken Word Festival. He is a freelance writer, web designer, and professional presenter. In December 2007, his life was nearly ended by a pulmonary embolism. In response he authored the chapbook, The Fast Places (Red Nettle, 2008). He lives in a wee house with his wife, stepdaughter, and two incorrigible hounds. He lives to write, code, and spend time with his family.
